The high-waisted bikini looks pretty damn decent; in my opinion anyway. It’s not great yet but I am confident that it will be. I’m stepping up my kettle bell workouts and doing a few more weighted-walking lunges and goblet squats to make my thighs and butt look a little tighter and leaner. With these additions to my workouts, I think I will be happy with how it looks this summer.
Here’s a shot from the other day; I’m no model and am certainly not perfect. Kind words and constructive criticism are welcome but if you feel the need to be rude, kindly close this blog’s tab on your laptop and meander elsewhere to be negative.
All of these workout changes brings me to the other topic of today’s weigh-in post; my New Years Running Resolution. Being the first day of spring today, it’s just about the time of year where I start running a lot. It’s beautiful outside and I find myself wanting to change all my workouts to runs in the sunny warmth of the outdoors. Here’s the issue with that — I start running so much that I then create these wild goals for myself during the week that I can only maintain for a month or so. By this time my “run 15 miles a week” goal has completely driven me nuts trying to achieve it and I get frustrated and stop running altogether.
In an effort to stop this from happening a 3rd year in a row, I decided to make a New Year’s Resolution. I am not usually a resolution person for New Years. I think people make them and almost immediately break them. But I had an idea to make one this year and I’m still sticking with it 3 months in. I decided that I would incorporate running into my regular weights and video workouts to maintain balance. The goal is to run as many miles are there are days in each month. So, for January, I needed to run 31 miles. For February, I ran 28 miles. In March, I will run 31 miles. I’ve done nearly 15 already and have 15.79 left to run by the 31st.
I think the months so far will be the hardest to log as many of these miles have been on a treadmill instead of out in the interesting and much more appealing outdoors. I think the next few months will be a challenge in not over-doing the running like I usually do. I think I can do it, though, with my resolution and the combined goal of weight training my way to bikini happiness.
You guys… I’ve got this. I think.
I think the bikini is cute! Way better than those skimpy little things some people walk around in :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd what a creative idea to run the number of days in a month, as miles. Great way to remember your goals! I'm personally not much of a runner but I'm trying to get into it - yesterday it was so beautiful outside that I went for a nice, hilly, walk. I hope I can keep it up!
I really like this: Kind words and constructive criticism are welcome but if you feel the need to be rude, kindly close this blog’s tab on your laptop and meander elsewhere to be negative. The internet gods should plaster that everywhere. I like the swimsuit. You know that! And, together, we can do that wild leg workout I found... did it yesterday actually.... and feeling it today... :(
